They do have vent that recirculate the air and filter out to the room. I don’t think they will completely remove most of the smell, especially fish. We installed a large fan into the exhaust pipes for this one gentleman who had a similar problem He ran the pipe out to the garage and then twenty five feet to the outside. There should be a way for you, I would call a heating and ventilation guy to see what he can do

I’m surprised that any condos (even old ones) don’t have a venting mechanism for the stove. Even if your kitchen is on the inside of the unit (most are), there should be piping that runs into a venting system.
Check with your landlord or super first and see if the previous tennants might have covered over the venting system preferring the cupboard space over the vent options.
It’s quite possible that the venting system is there, just hidden either behind some wood or new cupboards that were installed overtop of it. Your landlord, super (or even neighbors), should know if the vents actually exist.
If that’s a no go, then you’d need a range hood that filters (cleans) the air and recirculates it, although those aren’t 100% effective.

Yes, there are “ventless” range hoods, that use a charcoal filter to filter the air and return it to your room. You can probably get more information from any major home improvement store, but they may have to special order it, since they are not commonly used.

any dealer -lowes-homedepot-sears-that sells aplainces has them in several models–but would check with condo owner first-means cutting hole in wall
