Intermediate Skier Plus A Good Boarder, Any Recommendation’s For Canada Or America?

Looking for a good place to visit to ski in America or Canada for our next ski trip 07, like the chalet life style (catered) but don’t mind Hotels, resort needs to be good for an intermediate skier and an excellent boarder, we were thinking of going in March time.

I ve been to Whistler- Blackcomb which is considered as being the best ski resort in North America and I d definetly affirm that. Especially if you re into deep powder snow- which is great with the board- Whistler is the place to go but all the others will also find the right thing for them.
Further more, it s just like 120km from Vancouver- without a doubt one of the nicest cities in the World (was rated being the city with the highest quality of life in the world)- and when you re visiting Vancouver, you still can go skiing at Grouse Mountain (North Van) in the evening.
Concerning the accomodation, you ll surely find sth you like coz there simply is everything- and yes, there are a lot of catered chalets.
The only bad thing is that as Whistler has such a good reputation, it s relatively expensive (but still cheaper than most European resorts).

I’ve always heard Whistler is good for skiing too but it is pricey.

Of the ski resorts on the skinet link, I have been to Park City, Utah, Breckenridge, Vail. All of those resorts are great. My husband likes Steamboat Springs the best but I have not skiied there.
One really nice thing about Breckenridge is the proximity to other resorts. Vail, Keystone, Arapaho Basin, and Breckenridge have joined together to offer great package prices and shuttles between resorts. I had a great time at Breckenridge last spring. I ski mainly blue/black slopes. If you go during the off peak times, Breck can be great because of the variety. http://breckenridge.snow.com/
I do have to say I will consider Aspen when we plan our next trip. You do not trip over the beginner skiiers as I have heard there are no beginner runs.

Sun Valley Idaho is great for both. Wife and I skied there, both on skis. We found runs that were half groomed, half powder. Heaven for both of us. Another good place is Big Sky Montana. Plenty of info about both and lots of other western ski areas on the web. Just stay away from the “rolling hills” in the eastern US.

Try Tahoe, either Squaw Valley or Heavenly, both offer a lot of varienty and you can even visit other resorts around the lake.
