What Do You Think Of The Name Montague (mont-a-gyou) For A Boy?
Its not after romeo and juliet or a town in jersey. its my last name, and i want to name my child that. if you like it tell me why, if you dont, tell me why.

I do not like it. A boy with that name will be made fun of because it sounds like a sissy name. He will either be humilliated or he will get into fights…or both.

but if its your last name, you don’t need to have it for your child because it will always be with you. and montague is ALWAYS going to be associated with romeo and juliet because kids still study it in school and when the read/act the play does he really want to be montague? what if he ends up a capulet? imagine the jokes! if you want to honour your last name, go with Monty.

I kind of like it. It’s different, and I don’t think there are that many little kids that will be associating it with Romeo and Juliet, so you don’t really have anything to worry about until high school.
A good nickname could be Monty, as Montague can be a mouthful for a little kid.

To be honest, I don’t like it as a first name b/c everyone will assume it’s from R&J even if it’s not, plus you have to realize everyone will call him Monty.
What if you name him something that starts with M, like Mark or Michael?
Another idea is to use Montague as a middle name. Then you don’t have to worry about him being made fun of in school.

Part of me likes it and part of me thinks it sounds a little pretentious. If it’s your last name I think it’s a great reason to name your child.

MONTAGUE Gender: Masculine
Usage: English (Rare)
Pronounced: MAHN-tə-gyoo
From a surname meaning “pointed mountain” in French
Seems fine as a surname but I’m not thrilled about it as a first name.

i think that it is cool you want to name your boy by your last name. my little brother has my moms last name for his middle. I LOVE IT. and it has meaning too makes it more important

I like it. If your maiden name is a man’s name, I think it’s a great idea to use for a boy - that’s what I did!

i like it and even though you say it’s not after romeo and juliet but people will always associate that name to that movie/play

just doesn’t sound right for a first name. and he will probably be called Monty, so make sure you are okay with that.
